Lake District

The Lake District is a residential area in the northeast portion of Edmonton established in 1979. It is bounded by 97 Street to the west and 66 Street to the East, and 153 Avenue to the south and Anthony Henday to the north. It includes the neighbourhoods of Belle Rive, Eaux Claires, Mayliewan, Ozerna, Schonsee, Klarvatten, Lago Lindo, and Crystallina Nera (East and West). All of the neighbourhoods within the Lake District are named after descriptions of a body of water.

What to Do in the Lake District

Providing a unique combination of urban and suburban living, the Lake District is one of the most sought-after residential areas in Edmonton. It offers a mix of mature areas such as Belle Rive and newer subdivisions like Crytallina Nera.

Parks

For the outdoor enthusiasts, the area is known for its abundance of outdoor recreational opportunities, with many lakes, trails, spray parks, golf courses, and playgrounds to explore. The area is famous for Poplar Lake, a completely conserved lake within the Klarvatten neighbourhood that accommodates wildlife habitat. Many birds stop at the lake to rest and feed during their long journey between their winter and summer breeding grounds. Poplar District Park also offers spacious soccer fields and baseball diamonds in addition to a beautiful playground and spray park.
